like social justice and economic development, all of those things need to happen, but in the short-term, none of those things can happen if we don t first provide for the public safety. let me just finally show you the tale of two cities. chicago s crime statistics compared to new york. up 50 something percent. everything is out. motor vehicle theft 143%. let s look at last month in new york. crime is down in new york city. burglary down. in new york, eric adams former police officer seems to be getting it. some democratic legislators are actually increasing penalties. first year felony from one year now to democratic legislators increasing it to four years. you think they are finally getting the message and can that message get through to go after the criminals? punish the lawmakers and not give them a break.
