Michigan GOP: $1.4B coming for child care if Gov. Gretchen Whitmer drops toddler mask rule

“This is about doing what’s right for our kids. I have serious concerns about the consequences of this impractical, ineffective order,” Albert said. “Michigan isn’t solving any problems with this particular mask order – it’s actually creating problems for young kids and their families.” The order requires child care providers to “make a good faith effort .. to ensure that children aged 2  to 4 years wear a mask when participating in gatherings.” The order mandates all children 5 years and older wear a mask when participating in gatherings. The provision is the latest in a months-long standoff between Republicans and Whitmer over her COVID orders. Republicans have withheld some of the $5 billion in pandemic bailout funds the state has received from Washington D.C. in hopes of changing her policies.

Hillsboro man charged | 94 Country WKKJ

Apr 23, 2021 25-year-old Garrison Salyer of Hillsboro is facing a first-degree felony charge of rape of a minor under the age of 10 after admitting to a counselor that he sexually abused his son, according to an affidavit filed Thursday with the Hillsboro Municipal Court. Salyer, 25, confessed to sexually abusing his then 1-year-old son on multiple occasions in 2019 while speaking with a counselor recently at Talbert House, according to the affidavit. Salyer is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Hillsboro Municipal Court this coming Tuesday morning. A Talbert House counselor contacted Highland County Children Services after Salyer’s confession, who in turn asked Hillsboro police for assistance prior to going to Salyer’s residence on Treewood Drive. An officer stated in the affidavit that upon arriving at Salyer s residence Wednesday evening, Salyer admitted that he had committed the crime.
