Faced with a global pandemic and a tumultuous election, employers were presented with a unique set of challenges and a myriad of new and at times, very vague laws and regulations. Despite the start of a new year and a new administration in just a week, much of 2020 still lingers on, including some of its novel policies. However, the new year and new administration also signal a shift in direction for labor and employment law, and employers should be prepared.

We are getting a “White Christmas” courtesy of a winter storm. Blizzard warnings are posted for all of Siouxland due to snow, strong winds and bitter cold until 9 tonight.  The weather is creating treacherous travel conditions. The National Weather Service says Sioux City is expected to receive three inches of snow. But, some spots in the region could see 5-to-7 inches. Because of worsening weather conditions, Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott issued a snow emergency. The emergency declaration prohibits parking or leaving a vehicle unattended on an emergency snow route street, noted by a blue and white sign with a snowflake. 

Saskatchewan Announced 252 New Cases Of COVID-19, 218 Recoveries, And Eight Deaths

By Matthew Dekker Dec 19, 2020 7:54 PM Eight residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.  One new death in the age group 50-59 was reported in the North Central zone.  One new death in the age group 60-69 was reported in the North Central zone.  Three new deaths in the age group 70-79 were reported in the Saskatoon (1) and Regina (2) zones.  Three new deaths in the age group 80+ were reported in the Saskatoon (1), Regina (1) and South Central (1) zones. There are 252 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on December 19, 2020, bringing the provincial total to date to 13,329 cases. The new cases are located in the Far North West (9), Far North Central (3), Far North East (17), North West (41), North Central (42), North East (12), Saskatoon (57), Central West (5), Central East (24), Regina (29), South West (2), South Central (4) and South East (4) zones and 3 new cases have pending residence information.
