Emergency services were called to a number of minor crashes in the Nelson region over the weekend.
No-one was badly hurt in four separate crashes across Nelson and Tasman over the weekend, although one crashed car was found with no-one in it. A police spokesperson said on Saturday morning about 10am, a car rolled on Riwaka-Sandy Bay Road, between Moss Road and Takaka Hill Highway. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle wasn’t injured and was helped by a member of the public. The vehicle was towed from the site. The next incident happened at 12.30pm when a car rolled at the intersection of Motueka River West Bank Rd and Shaggery Rd.

Akaroa, Chorlton, Duvauchelle, Le Bons Bay, Little Akaloa, Ngaio Point, Okains Bay, Robinsons Bay, Takamatua, Takamatua Bay, Fishermans Bay, Hickory Bay, Otanerito Bay and Paua Bay were among the affected areas. Most of these areas had lost power just before 8am and were expected to be restored about midday, according to the Orion website. As of 11am, all but around 600 customers had had their power restored. Orion spokeswoman Linda McGregor said there were reports of trees colliding with power lines across the network on Tuesday morning.
