Nigeria fears arms influx over Idriss Deby’s death The Punch
The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.), on Thursday said the Federal Government knew that the killing of Chad’s President, Idriss Deby, was capable of causing security problems for Nigeria and other neighbouring countries.
The minister, who spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja during the weekly briefing organised by the presidential communication team, said government feared that insecurity in Chad could lead to proliferation of illegal arms in Nigeria.
Magashi stated these as gunmen kidnapped no fewer than seven people in Oyo and Kaduna states between Wednesday and Thursday.

Gunmen abduct 18 passengers in Oyo
The incident occurred on Thursday morning.

Again, gunmen have reportedly abducted 18 passengers from a commercial bus in the Ibarapa axis of Oyo State.
The passengers were said to be coming from Ogun State into the state.
Sources told our correspondent that the incident occurred on Thursday morning along Eruwa-Igboora way.
The spokesperson of
police in the state, Adewale Osifeso, and Amotekun commandant, Olayinka Olayanju, did not respond to calls and text messages as of the time of filing this report.
But the Secretary of the Farmers Union in Ibarapa, Taiwo Adeagbo, confirmed the incident.
