Taipei, Jan. 10 (CNA) Next Apple News, which was launched in September 2022, has reportedly announced a plan to terminate over a quarter of its employees, but labor authorities said Tuesday they had received no notification from the company about the move.
Forty-three percent of women polled have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace, among which nearly 90 percent said that they kept silent, a survey released yesterday by the Modern Women’s Foundation showed.
Of the survey’s respondents, the majority, or 63.5 percent, said they were harassed physically, while 60.9 percent said they were verbally harassed.
The survey found that 37.1 percent were subject to unwelcome advances, staring and the distribution of pictures or messages of a highly sexualized nature.

Taipei-based WeMo notified the labor department that the layoffs were carried out on Jan. 8, CNA reported. The company said losses and downsizing led to the decision. WeMo laid off seven employees last year because of failure to meet performance requirements. According to labor department records as of October 2020, WeMo had 282 workers registered in the mandatory labor insurance program. Regarding the layoffs, WeMo said it has been undergoing reorganization and adjusting its workforce as it modifies its business strategy to gain market share.
