6 MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin’s 2018 basketball recruiting class will go down as one of the most bizarre and statistically unproductive in school history, the result of a wild up-and-down cycle in which the Badgers went from landing superstar in-state guard Tyler Herro to missing out on the top two in-state prospects that year.
Herro, the No. 1 player in the state, was committed to Wisconsin for 13 months but de-committed three weeks before signing day and chose Kentucky. Forward Joey Hauser, the No. 2 player in the state, joined his brother, Sam, at Marquette. Those two decisions contributed to Wisconsin coach Greg Gard ultimately signing three projects in the class whose Badgers careers never took off.
