West Shore s Ed Miller hits 39th year with Meeks Bay Fire

cneuffer@tahoedailytribune.com TAHOMA, Calif. Ed Miller has lived on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore for over 40 years. This March marked Miller’s 39th year on the Meeks Bay Fire Protection District board and for 37 of those years, he served as the board’s president. Miller is well known on the West Shore for his continued passion in serving the community. Miller moved to Tahoma in 1978 and before that he was living on the North Shore at Carnelian Bay two years prior. Before settling in the basin, Miller traveled around the country with his wife, Lolly Kupec, after leaving their home across the nation in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Truckee, Tahoe City and North Lake Tahoe cancel 4th of July firework and activities

Submitted by paula on Wed, 04/28/2021 - 8:11am Truckee and North Lake Tahoe regional officials have made the difficult decision to cancel the annual July 3 fireworks at Kings Beach, and the Fourth of July fireworks shows in Donner Lake, Truckee and Tahoe City. Canceled events include the Fourth of July parade, which encompasses the Firecracker Mile in Historic Downtown Truckee, and any other events that take place through July 4 in Truckee and North Lake Tahoe. In March, the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitor Bureau (IVCBVB) announced they were canceling its 4th of July fireworks display for the second consecutive year due to ongoing pandemic concerns and heightened summer visitation concerns. The Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) said they are going ahead with plans for their annual Fourth of July carnival and fireworks show held annually at Mills Park in Carson City.
