Staff face the axe — after keeping school going through Covid | Isle of Wight County Press

The Bay CE, Sandown. STAFF at The Bay CE School are facing the axe or a heavily increased workload. They say after keeping the school going during Covid, some catching the virus themselves, they are now being badly treated. Several trade unions have joined forces to call for cost-cutting proposals at the Sandown school to be scrapped and have questioned the rationale behind it. GMB, Unison, NASUWT and NEU Unions expressed concerns following the resumption of budget-slashing consultation meetings. A joint statement issued by the school and the Isle of Wight Council said the current staffing model was unaffordable . The Bay, which took over the former Academies Enterprise Trust s Sandown Bay Academy, has developed proposals which raise more questions than give answers, the GMB said.
