Chiefs Recognize SMSgt Jeffrey Watson as This Week s Salute to Service Honoree Presented by Crown Royal

Copied! They devote their lives to protecting those that they ve never met, selflessly stepping forward to defend all that we hold dear in this country. These individuals don t join the service for recognition or fame, it s just simply what they feel called to do, forgoing personal ambition in the private sector to become a part of something much larger than themselves. They re the brave few who make up our Armed Forces, and some of the nation s very best are stationed right here in Chiefs Kingdom. The Chiefs have a rich history of supporting our men and women in uniform throughout the years, and while the traditional Salute to Service programming can t take place at Arrowhead Stadium this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization is still doing its part to recognize the real heroes in our community.

Retired Air Force B-52 navigator honored for decades of service to veterans

It all started by glancing up for Richard Narushoff. Narushoff, 75, of Monroeville remembers being 3 years old when he saw his first airplane flying through the sky. “I figured I’d fly someday,” he said. “I guess it’s always been in my mind.” Those memories came back recently after he was awarded the Pennsylvania Veterans Service Award for his unwavering support of veterans. Narushoff is the ninth person to receive the award. It was established by the Pennsylvania National Guard in 2019, according to the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. The award comes in the form of a certificate signed by Maj. Gen. Anthony J. Carrelli, the state’s adjutant general, and a bronze medal featuring a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, emblazoned with “For Him Who Shall Have Borne the Battle.”
