Benjamin Clifton Suddard passed away January 6, 2021 from injuries suffered during a kite boarding accident. Ben is survived by his wife Lena C. (Magnuson) Suddard and his two children, Kristina Ingrid, Benjamin Walter and daughter in-law Katherine (Adams). He is also survived by his father, Benjamin Alvin, a sister Jamilynn Suddard Novo and brother in-law Lawrence Novo along with his niece Rebecca Novo Shippey.
Ben was born in Wareham and attended the Wareham school system until he entered Tabor Academy where he played lacrosse and the trumpet. He learned to sail as a young child at Tabor and continued his sailing adventures including crewing on the Marion-Bermuda race. He was a sports enthusiast from the time he was very young when he was first introduced to the sport of skiing. He enjoyed ski adventures at Jackson Hole and Switzerland. MARION There are currently 36 active coronavirus cases among residents in the town, according to Public Health Nurse Lori Desmarais, who updated the Board of Health on the numbers at a Jan. 5 meeting.
“Those are people in the community that we are currently actively following,” Desmarais noted.
The town has seen 207 Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
Old Rochester Regional Junior High School currently has three positive cases in isolation and four contacts in quarantine, while ORR High School has eight positive cases isolating and 20 contacts quarantining.
The junior high has had 12 confirmed cases since the pandemic started, and the high school has had 36 confirmed cases.
South Coast artist Kim Barry has been throwing pots for 40 years, finding great satisfaction in creating vessels that balance creative form with utilitarian function. As the owner and operator of Clay Trout Pottery in Mattapoisett, she produces custom ornamental plant containers for gardeners, homeowners and commercial clients.
Her success in the field has led to a stint as a ceramics instructor at the Tabor Academy, as a creator of clay pot props for Guy Ritchie’s 2009 “Sherlock Holmes” movie (starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law), and designing and executing the production of logo pots for Polo Ralph Lauren Company’s 2007 spring line.

The school announced on Dec. 30 that Anthony Jaccaci will take over as head of school on July 1, 2021.
MARION Ending a search that began in August, Tabor Academy has found a new head of school.
The school announced on Dec. 30 that Anthony Jaccaci will take over as head of school on July 1, 2021.
Jaccaci is currently Head of School at Cincinnati Country Day School in Ohio, where he has been for six years. Prior to his tenure in Ohio, he spent five years as the founding Executive Principal of the Secondary Division at YK Pao School in Shanghai.
Jaccaci was unanimously selected by the Tabor selection committee and unanimously approved by the school’s Board of Trustees.
Travis Roy, a fierce hockey player who tragically became a quadriplegic in his first collegiate hockey game for Boston University in 1995, and who proved to be a greater force off the ice as a philanthropist and motivational speaker, died unexpectedly on October 29 at the age of 45.
I had the honor of meeting Roy twice, and both times were unforgettable.
The first time, I was in eighth grade when Roy visited my school as a guest speaker. He captivated me, my peers, teachers and faculty as he shared his inspirational story during his annual visit to The St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts.
