The countdown is on to more in-person learning in Swampscott. At the Swampscott School Committee meeting on March 10, Swampscott Superintendent Pamela Angelakis presented an enhanced timeline for students’ return.
“I’m really, really excited,” Angelakis said.
Here’s a quick look at the schedule:
March 22: Swampscott High School returns to a five-day hybrid schedule (with days beginning at 8:10 a.m., instead of the recent 9 a.m.). The SHS Wednesday half-day becomes a full day. All special education students at elementary schools return to their original classrooms.

Swampscott elementary school students will begin returning to class five days a week in April and the School Committee has approved a new distancing rule that allows students to be within 3 feet of each other. The original distance was 6 feet. Middle school and high school students will return later.
“It has to be phased in,” said Swampscott Superintendent Pamela Angelakis at a School Committee meeting on Feb. 24. “It’s not going to happen overnight.”
More than 100 people - including parents and teachers - joined into the Zoom meeting. Many parents expressed frustration and anger that students have not been back full time yet.
Jacqueline “Jackie” Faye Brown, passed away suddenly at her home in Center, Texas on February 4, 2021.
Our mother was one of the hardest working, kindest, loving women and we were blessed to have her as ours. Jackie was always the life of any room she entered. She always greeted you with her amazing smile and beautiful eyes. She never met a stranger, once you were introduced to her you would always be a friend.
She was born December 18, 1955 to Eugene Spaude and LaVern Keck in Norfolk, Nebraska.
