Muslim activists turn their building into Covid Care Centre
Building awaiting approval for a pharmacy college turned into Covid Care Centre; Businessmen and social activists pool resources for beds, diagnostic centre; Last year during Covid-1 the Centre examined and treated 4,000 patients.

A group of Muslim businessmen and social activists in Tumakuru (previously Tumkur) town in Karnataka have turned a building owned by one among them into a 50-bed Covid care centre. It has been named as Salam Covid Care Centre and is administering treatment to 50 to 60 patients everyday in the day care centre. It is awaiting approval from the district administration to admit in-patients.

The state initially came under flak from public health experts and also faced ire of the state high court on several occasions for fewer testing. However, the authorities later ramped up testing and also took effective steps.
