Throughout January, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has been converting from its legacy motor vehicle system implemented in the late 1970s, known as AVIS, to a modern system known as KAVIS.
Grant Countians stepped up to help those in Eastern Kentucky after massive flooding. Grant County Sheriff Brian Maines and Clerk Tabatha Clemons are two that have made trips to Eastern Kentucky since the disaster. The sheriff’s department donated two cruisers to Letcher County after Maines saw on Facebook their sheriff’s department lost cars in the flood. “The (Kentucky) Sheriff’s Association put out a request—needs for Eastern Kentucky sheriffs that were affected,” Maines said.
