Pensioners worry over Charuma landslip

They have worked hard all their life hoping to have comfort in their twilight years.
But now, two pensioners from the remote community of Charuma Village are living in fear as a landslip threatens their homes.
Nandranie Nandlal and Sylvie Ragobar have been begging for help over the past year, after a landslip developed in front of their homes at 60 Charuma Junction Trace, Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro.
Police rescue kidnap victim

Police rescued a 19-year-old kidnap victim from a garden camp in Rio Claro on Wednesday and arrested a 20-year-old suspect.
The victim had been missing since March 29.
The rescue took place after officers of the Rio Claro CID and Task Force conducted surveillance work in the San Pedro area and received information which led them to the camp.
Around 6.15 am on Wednesday, the officers went to Sydney Trace, Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro, where they found the camp about 200 feet off the roadway.
Rio Claro man dies while hunting
A Rio Claro man died after complaining of chest pains while hunting on Saturday.
Police said 63-year-old Shaffiath Ali of Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro went to a forested area off Killdeer Trace in Rio Claro to hunt just after 8 am. He had a shotgun.
Around 10 am, he complained of chest pains and fell down. His son Raecal Ali was contacted. He went into the forest to find his father and called the police.
Ali (S) was carried out of the forest by a bison but was declared dead by medical officials.
The body was later taken to the Sangre Grande hospital and the gun was given to police.
