ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) parliamentary leader in Senate Sherry Rehman Saturday demanded withdrawal of raise in the electricity tariff.
In a tweet, she said the results of the budget had started affecting people through the recent raise in electricity tariff and petroleum prices.
“After slapping a petroleum levy of a whopping Rs610 billion, ‘Tabahi Sarkar’ has hiked electricity tariff by Rs2.97/unit - an additional burden of Rs135b on consumers,” she said.
Sherry Rehman said nothing shocks now, but still another ordinance empowers the federal government to hike electricity prices without any consultation.
