The state government has already initiated the process to honour the sportspersons/athletes who had represented Manipur in the 19th Asian Games with cash incentives, Youth Affairs & Sports director T Phulen Meitei stated.
The Manipur the chief minister expressed the need for proper maintenance of the gym compound, including the Khongjom War Memorial Complex and ensured all necessary support.
Our Correspondent Imphal, Nov. 2 (EMN): Haryana emerged champions in the 5th Junior Girls’ National Boxing Championship 2022, which concluded in Imphal on Wednesday. Haryana bagged four of the total 13 gold medals of the championship and ended their campaign with a total of 10 medals including four gold, five silver and one bronze, to reinforce their supremacy in the boxing arena. The champions’ trophy was handed over to the Haryana team by Manipur’s ruling MLA Leishiyo Keishing and director of Youth Affairs & Sports, T Phulen Meitei. Haryana were followed by Rajasthan (with seven medals including three gold, two silver and two bronze), and Maharashtra with one gold, two silver and two bronze. Host Manipur took the 8th position winning one gold and another bronze. However Manipur’s boxer Supriya Devi Thokchom who won gold in 52-54 kg category competition by defeating Babita Singh of Uttar Pradesh in finals, was adjudged as the best boxer of the championship. Neha Sharma
