right now has the ability to step in and help. the question is, did they step in and help quickly enough juliet: thanks very much for joining us. gregg: hunt is on for a group of suspects in the shooting of an arizona sheriff s deputy. police say the officer was patrolling alone yesterday afternoon south of phoenix when suddenly came upon a group of pot smugglers. one of the five men opened fire hitting the 53-year-old law man. he was not seriously hurt. police using helicopters to track down the gunman, but none of the five men have been captured. police choppers and search dogs on the hunt in minnesota for a cop killer. they are saying the officer was sitting in the squad car when somebody came up and shot him. the officer had responded to a reported carjacking. he later died at the hospital. police believe there were two suspects the at that scene. gregg: arizona, us a know, is
controversial immigration reform bill that was passed last week by governor jan brewer. it allows police to inquire about someone s immigration status. people say it promotes racial profiling and that it s unconstitutional. it s more of the job of the federal government to enforce immigration and not so much local law enforcement. they say this essentially makes local law enforcement border patrol agents. a lot of people are unhappy. though, again, we haven t seen large scale crowds in phoenix just yet. police are on standby as the numbers continue to grow and if the crowd would get out of hand. we are hoping it doesn t happen. gregg: what is going on in los angeles, any idea? home base for us. los angeles is pretty happening. take a look at the live picture courtesy of kttv. thousands of protestors are led
