PW Pizza | St. Louis - Midtown | Pizza, Restaurants

Paul and Wendy Hamilton, the owners of 1111 Mississippi and Vin de Set, focus on the classic America pizza parlor in this venture. The pies are thin-crust - but not too thin - and cooked in a standard deck oven. You can build your own from a lengthy list of toppings or choose one of the "Classics," like a margherita or pepperoni pizza. There are also specialty pizzas, like a pulled-pork barbecue pizza and "The Wolf," with sausage, pepperoni and applewood-smoked bacon.

White Knight Diner

Made famous by the movie White Palace, White Knight Diner offers breakfast and lunch for nine-to-fivers and downtown residents alike. The menu includes a large selection of burgers and sandwiches, both of which are available all day either à la carte or as a combo with fries and a drink. White Knight serves up omelets and a slinger among their breakfast offerings. The diner only accepts cash and closes at 3 p.m.

Chuy Arzola's

One of St. Louis' most beloved restaurants returns, but the new incarnation of Eddie Arzola's Dogtown Tex-Mex joint isn't your father's Chuy Arzola's. Literally: Arzola is still involved, but the driving force is his son Coby, along with Café Ventana owners Ami Grimes and Gurpreet Padda. The menu features crowd-pleasing favorites: tacos, enchiladas, burritos and the "secret recipe" fajitas. In general, roasted pork is an excellent choice for any meal, and the enchiladas suizas (chicken with Chihuahua cheese and cilantro-spiked sour cream) are a nice change from good ol' chicken enchiladas with ranchero sauce.

Buffalo Brewing Co.

Beer is the first order of business at this midtown brewpub. Buffalo Brewing Co. turns out a small but solid range of beers, from the easy-drinking Buffalo Gold to the, uh, evocatively named Buffalo Drool (it's an American brown ale) to the downright tasty rye IPA. The menu offers beer-friendly fare: burgers, fried fish, wings and pizza. As the name might suggest, bison is available in burger, sausage and chili form; in addition, ground bison is combined with ground beef in the meatloaf. Tours of the brewery (located on site) are available.

Malt House Cellar

Located in the Centennial Malt House, which also houses Moulin Events, Grand Petite Market and Vin de Set, Malt House Cellar only opens for special events. The rustic space includes a fireplace lounge, foosball and pool tables. Guests can choose two starters, which include mac & cheese, tater tots and eggs mimosa, and one main course, with options such as meat loaf, pot pie and a carver platter of prime rib, smoked turkey, ham and portobello.
