elizabeth warren, she was controlled capitalism. we have had a free market economy and we have had things like public education, infrastructure that was paid for by tax dollars, medicare, social security. in many ways it s a false choice, of course we are a capitalist country but we also historical have had great social programs that lift people up. my parents didn t go to college, i grew up in a time when infrastructure in society supported people like me in pursuing my dreams. martha: do you think those programs have become outmoded? they have to be updated, that has been the great tragedy as our society. no other candidate is going to say that, nobody is good to talk about changing any of those benefits. every kid in this country should start at pre-k, we ve proven it s the best investment we can make, that should be part of basic public education, that would change the trajectory of kids lives. they should have something after high school, career and technical training,
we can get candidates like myself, who can get progressives, moderates and disaffected republicans on the same page around a common set of goal and vision and we should be more unified, that coalition can beat president trump, i m the candidate that build that coalition, that s what my campaign is about. why? what is it about your candidacy? first of all, i got a different background than my competitors i grew up in a blue collar family. my parents didn t go to college. i was the youngest ceo on the new york stevenlths new york stock exchange. i rolled up my sleeves and kev e served and that s the background of someone who is about solving problems, about building something, about seeking common ground, about treating people
all those states where we won and last not just because we re mad at donald trump. this economy is not working well for everybody. people can t see doctors can or can t go to college. the rents are going up. people have real problems. if democrats want to be worthy of what just happened, we ve got to be able to listen, make donald trump and the republicans in the senate say no to a bunch of stuff that people need and then we ll. political sense, just from a political sense, a lot of these victories that are being won are being won in places that are in the center. right? with a lot of independent support. those candidates will have to battle right away, day one to, keep those seats. they re going to want to say, we brought home something. bred and butter. something. i tell you i m sorry is, gloria. the question is whether the president would you know, he s not really moored by ideological considerations. right. and there is an opportunity
continuing with their cyber attacks as we speak. and i think he could settle a lot of anxiety that way. he needs to allow the investigation by the house, the senate and especially by bob mueller to just run its course without interference. let s turn remember, he needs to remember why he ran for election. there are a lot of people in this country who are still hurting. you ve got i ve got people where i live who can t afford to buy their blood pressure medicine. you have men and women in their 50s and 60s who are seeing their jobs go away to automation and they don t know what to do. you have kids who can t go to college. you know, we like to say, democrats now, people need a better deal. we need to be focusing on some of these economic challenges of this country. i want to do it with in a bipartisan way. and i think the president, he needs to get back on track. all right. democratic representative from
