HARTFORD A filmmaker who created a movie in Hartford last year now has four online film projects.
In 2019, Elle Mercurio-Cherrier used the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site in Hartford as the setting for her horror film “Claimed” set in 1857. The film had its Illinois debut in February at the historic site in Hartford.
More than 250 people worked on the film, which she said also was a metaphor for the hundreds of thousands of heroin addicts who go missing in the U.S. every day.
“Most people assume drug addiction is the result of a bad childhood or sustained exposure to drug use by others,” she said. “Sometimes it’s the consequence of prescription drug use that spirals out of control.”
