Flair blessing of peace in our lives and in our world. Our fervent prayer, o god is that people will learn to live together in reconciliation and espect, so that the terrors of war and dictatorial abuse will be no more. Bless all the peacemakers of our world. Play may your eternal spirit be with them and with us always and may your special bless being on the members of the assembly and the important, sometimes difficult work they are given to do. Minutes. The speaker pro tempore the gentlelady from florida is recognized for two minutes. Ms. Brown thank you mr. Speaker. Here we go again passing another extension and failing in our duties to provide a world class Transportation System. Transportation program is much too critical to our economy to be delayed any longer. Unfortunately, the Republican Leadership in washington continues its long running failure to fund Surface Transportation Infrastructure programs. Just last week House Republicans passed a bill cutting taxes by 269 billion for the richest 1 of americans with no offset but failed to pass a real transportation authorization bill that put america to work. We know for every billion dollars we invest in transportation it generates 44,000 permanent jobs. In closing second anthony foxx said all of us have a role to play in shaping our secretary anthony foxx said all of us have a role to play in in shaping our nations infrastructure. As we saw last week during the tragic Tr
Year. The last longterm bill we passed with safetealu in 2005. That was 10 years ago and that bill was underfunded because of the resistance of raising the gasoline tax or identifying new revenue sources. For over a decade we have failed to address the funding challenges necessary to break the cycle of underinvestment and put this country back on a competitive path with the rest of the world. Today we spend about 1. 7 of g. D. P. On infrastructure while china spends 9 , europe 4. 5 to 5 . We used to spend 4. 5 to 5 also. There is a 800 million backlog. Public transit has an 6 billion backlog of critical maintenance and repair needs which increased by 2. 5 billion each year as bus and Rail Infrastructure ages. While infrastructure crumbles around us, we dont fill the gap in the Highway Trust Fund just to do a longterm bill at current levels. But this week they will put on the floor a tax extenders that will cost 182 billion over 10 years completely unpaid for. Im concerned that we will
Priority of the agency now. I have one more question. You recently stated that the sole basis for recommendation to the ban of most widely used chemicals was cumulative Risk Assessment which found the majority of Citizens Advisory Panel recommendation which found the majority of risk associated with chemicals was from another chemical, dehp. Can you explain concerns for using cumulative Risk Assessment as a basis for such regulatory determination . Thank you. The chap and the proposed rule is of great concern to me has been of concern to me since the chap issued its report because i believe the chap report should have been a public should have been subject to public peer review at that point. From that point onto me the system and whole process has been flawed. The cumulative Risk Assessment youre talking about is one of my concerns in that the process thats used, thats not well accepted in the Scientific Community, cumulative Risk Assessment, so i think that goes to the process and va
To you that with this in mind what actions have you taken in the past year to provide relief to companies with respect to costs of Third Party Testing requirements . Thank you congresswoman. One of the areas we found interesting, and this was discovered by Small Business ombudsman, i dont want to get the commissioner upset since it involves his prior occupation, but we found a lot of Third Party Labs are testing for services that are not required and so our Small Business ombudsman and his Office Provide phenomenal support and assistance working with Small Businesses and i encourage any members with Small Businesses that have issues, reach out to neil cohen of cpsc because he can work with companies to go through testing reports and find out whether or not they really need certain testing. He doesnt actually go line by line, but he says here are general guidances and questions you should be asking. He really does a phenomenal job of empowering a lot of companies. Thats gone a huge way
