The Liberal government has approved the purchase of a U.S. radar system for installation in the Royal Canadian Navy’s new fleet of warships.
Canada has asked the U.S. to provide the AEGIS Combat System, SPY-7 radars and related equipment at an estimated cost of $2.2 billion. The radar system and other equipment will be installed in the new Canadian Surface Combatant fleet which will cost taxpayers an estimated $77 billion.
