Syracuse’s Stephen Rehfuss and Brett Kennedy were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team following the conclusion of the 2021 regular season. Rehfuss was one of six attacks selected while Kennedy was one of three long-stick midfielders.
The conference’s five head coaches voted on the conference’s team. Syracuse’s two selections were the fewest in the conference. Rehfuss leads the Orange in points (53) and has the most points by an SU player since 2016. He’s the only SU player on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, given to the best collegiate lacrosse player in the country. Rehfuss was added to the list midway through the season after SU’s starting midfield started out the year on the watch list.

Last month, Syracuse s Stephen Rehfuss entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. At the time, IL reported that other “noteworthy Syracuse [players may] seek a transfer prior to the spring season … [as] the players consideration is part of an ongoing disciplinary appeals process resulting from an apparent violation of COVID-19 safety protocols.”
No other players entered the Transfer Portal and sources tell IL that that disciplinary process has ended in the players’ favor and, while they have avoided the most significant negative outcome, some steps remain in order to ensure their ability to play this spring; those are also expected to end in a favorable outcome. As a result, Rehfuss has not yet withdrawn from the Portal, but it is expected that he will once the situation is fully resolved.

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Over the last several weeks, many lacrosse coaches from outside of the Big Ten have been sharing off-the-record information that the Big Ten will only be playing conference games this spring for men’s and women’s lacrosse, potentially playing a home-and-home schedule.
Inside Lacrosse wrote a story on Thursday sharing that sentiment based on feedback from women’s lacrosse coaches outside of the Big Ten that said they had been told by Big Ten coaches that they would not be able to schedule nonconference games in 2021. An unnamed men’s lacrosse coach told IL that no directive from the Big Ten Conference office to only play conference games had been shared with him.
