Maury County ceases drive-up tag renewal service
The Daily Herald
After about a year of offering a drive-up car tag renewal service, the office of the Maury County Clerk has ceased the program, citing lack of use.
Launched in June 2020, the office began offering the service in an effort to keep the most vulnerable members of the public safe amid the pandemic.
The pilot program formally came to an end in late May with few taking advantage of the service. It just didn t work, said Joey Allen, the county clerk. After many months, it just did not take off. I did not know if it would work or not, but it seemed like such a good idea, but it is so hard to educate people on what is available to them. It just kind of dried up.
