There are at least 212 professional licenses set to expire in Tempe during the second quarter, according to the State of Arizona.
More than 99 percent of Arizona s businesses are considered small, with more than 40 percent of Arizona employees working for small businesses, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.
A study by Civic Economics found that when $100 is spent at a locally-owned business, that business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.

PHOENIX On Dec. 24, Christmas Eve morning, a candle in a bedroom sparked and caused a massive blaze at a home on 15th Avenue and Sonora Street in south Phoenix.
Teresa Menjivar, her husband Tobias and 26-year-old daughter Denise, who has Down Syndrome, narrowly escaped the fire. They lost everything they own, including their car.
