A 55-year-old Hartford woman who police believe was just “at home, cooking and minding her business,” is dead after a drive-by shooting Wednesday evening.

A Connecticut woman was killed while cooking inside her apartment Wednesday evening when bullets tore through the walls during a drive-by shooting, police said.
Hartford mom Sylvia Cordova, 56, was hit by at least one stray bullet that proved fatal while preparing dinner in her kitchen on 28 Sisson Ave., CBS affiliate WFSB reported. Absolutely tragic. For this to occur to a woman in the security of her home is tragic, said Lt. Aaron Boisvert, commander of the Hartford Police Department s (HPD) Major Crimes Division.
At least nine gunshots emerged from a car toward her apartment on the first floor, and police believe that Cordova was an unintended target.

It happened on Sisson Avenue around 5 p.m.
The shooting victim was later identified as Sylvia Cordova, 56, of Hartford.
Police said Cordova was cooking dinner in her apartment when she was struck and killed.
“Absolutely tragic. For this to occur to a woman in the security of her home is tragic,” said Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert.
