SANTA MONICA The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the green light on the emergency use of another COVID-19 vaccine. Designed by Pfizer, the vaccination will be delivered to St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica.
On Wednesday, December 16, the first batch of vaccines is expected to arrive and be given to those working within the front line.
“We’re so excited to be able to finally announce that we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our vaccines,” said Sylvain Trepanier, DNP, RN, regional chief clinical executive. “We have been working very diligently in getting ourselves ready for this historic moment and we’re poised and ready to start vaccinating.”

SANTA MONICA, CA Providence Southern California, with 11 hospitals across three counties, including its facility in Santa Monica, will begin administering Pfizer vaccines to front-line caregivers this week. Not since the polio vaccine in the 1950s has the public so anxiously awaited an injection expected to conquer dreaded illness, Providence announced Monday. Providence is eager to receive in the coming days its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Following the vaccinations for health care workers, the group will follow federal recommendations on vaccines for vulnerable groups next in line for the sought after COVID-19 vaccine.
Providence Health To Receive Over 26,000 Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine In Next Two Weeks
Providence Health and Services, which operates several locations in Santa Clarita, is expected to receive 26,325 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to be distributed across their network of ten hospitals in southern California.
The initial wave of vaccines is intended for “high-risk” caregivers and service providers employed across the Providence network, which includes Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills and the Facey Medical Group in the Santa Clarita Valley.
“We have been working very diligently in getting ourselves ready for this historical moment,” said Sylvain Trepanier, DNP, RN, Providence regional chief clinical executive. “We’re poised and ready to start vaccinating all of our high-risk caregivers and providers that are working day-in and day-out to keep everyone safe.”

Providence Southern California, which operates St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica, will begin administering vaccines to its frontline caregivers this week.
The first shipments of Pfizer vaccines will arrive at four Providence hospitals by Tuesday or Wednesday this week and be distributed to vulnerable workers at all 11 Providence hospitals. Between the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, Providence expects to offer initial vaccine doses to all 20,000 of its high risk caregivers by the end of the year.
