The new CT scanner at St. Joseph’s General Hospital (SJGH) has been up and running for three weeks, and is getting a thumbs-up by patients and staff. The computerized tomography (CT) scanner is increasing access to rapid diagnostics closer to home, reducing travel to larger centres. “It provides us with so much more intel than an x-ray, with images of internal injuries or disease,” says SJGH CEO Jeremy Stevenson. “It has met our first critical goal as an organization: to increase access to care in the community, providing rapid diagnostics and treatment locally.”
