Workers and members of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ran helter-skelter after twin explosives rocked the state party secretariat on Thursday.
The party was holding its council membership primaries around 3pm when the explosives went off.
It was gathered that before this time, several stakeholders were protesting against alleged imposition of candidates in some areas.
Our correspondent gathered that the explosive device kept inside a Sports Utility Vehicle, which was parked in front of the secretariat located along the busy Aba Express Road, went off without warning.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attack as at the time of filing this report.

Twin explosions from substances suspected to dynamite have rocked the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State on Thursday afternoon.
The explosion, which sent party members scampering for safety, occurred about 3 pm during the councilorship primaries of the party.
No group had claimed responsibility for the explosion as of the time of filing this report,
An eyewitness who preferred anonymity said, “There was panic today as two dynamites exploded during the Councillorship primaries of the PDP.

Fani-Kayode has freedom of association, says Rivers PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has said the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has freedom and liberty to interact and associate with whoever he chooses at anytime.
This came against the background of recent visit by Fani-Kayode to All Progressives Congress bigwigs, including the party’s national caretaker chairman, Mai Mala Buni.
The PDP said it was yet to receive any official report regarding any plan by the Fani-Kayode to defect to APC.
The State PDP Publicity Secretary, Sydney Tambari, stated this during a telephone chat with out correspondent on Tuesday.
