SAN FRANCISCO - The Oregon State women s soccer team s Sydney Studer took home the sole Pac-12 postseason award, as announced Wednesday.
The junior had an excellent season and for her efforts, she was named to the Pac- 12 All-Conference Second Team.
Syd had an outstanding year, both offensively and defensively, said head coach Matt Kagan. Awards in the Pac-12 are extremely hard to achieve and Syd deserves this accolade. We are all very proud of her!
Studer has been a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the field. A defensive player, she found her way to contribute massively on the offense. Just a couple of weeks ago, Studer was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after scoring a hat trick against Utah (4/4).
• Oregon State is 4-10-1 on the season with a 2-8-0 Pac-12 record.
• The Beavers opened the season with a 3-0 win at Idaho. In a non-league game, OSU beat No. 3 Stanford, 2-1, on Feb. 28. Their one tie came on March 28 when Oregon State held No. 22 California to a scoreless tie.
• On April 2, the Beavers won their first Pac-12 game with a 2-0 win against Colorado. Just two days later, on senior day, OSU defeated Utah, 3-1.
• OSU s 10 losses on the season come from five teams in the top-25 (California, USC, UCLA, Arizona State, and Stanford) with three others coming from an early season game against Portland (2/10), a 3-1 loss to Arizona (3/12), a 2-0 loss to Oregon (3/19) and most recently, two losses in Washington (Washington State - L, 4/9; Washington - L, 4/11).
