Record Breaking Game Leads To Series Sweep of NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 3 Florida State (49-5) swept NC State (33-22) behind a record-setting day by the Seminole offense. The day started with FSU defeating NC State in game three, 8-4, before the completion of game two which started on Saturday afternoon. In game two, the Seminoles hit a program-record seven home runs, led by Sydney Sherrill’s program record three in one game. The Seminoles defeated the Wolfpack 10-6 in game two. Game 3 Florida State started strong for the second game in a row, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Kaley Mudge led off with an eight-pitch walk and just two pitches later Sydney Sherrill hit her second home run of the weekend and sixth of the season to give FSU an early lead. NC State loaded the bases in the first inning after a pair of singles and a hit by pitch. The Wolfpack then scored from third on a throwing error by Katie Bright. Seminoles Shine On Senior Day To Sweep Clemson 6-0

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – On a day honoring the three graduating Seminoles; Maegan Tomlinson, Sydney Sherill, and Danielle Watson, the ‘Noles use consistent offense, an explosive third inning, and exceptional pitching from Mack Leonard and Kathryn Sandercock to beat the Clemson Tigers 6-0. This win completes their sweep over the 17th-ranked Tigers. The win today also clinched the school’s best start in its history with a 43-5 record.  At JoAnne Graf Field Saturday afternoon, 1,573 spectators came to watch the senior celebrations and Seminole victory. The crowd was the tenth largest for a game at JoAnne Graf Field in softball history. Maegan Tomlinson got the first start of her career for Senior Day. Mack Leonard started the game and pitched 3.2 innings while allowing zero runs on two hits with one strikeout. Five Run Sixth Inning Leads Softball Past No 5 Virginia Tech

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -  After losing the previous two games against the Hokies, the Seminoles (37-4) bounced back in a big way to win the final game of the series against No. 5 Virginia Tech (29-5). In a back-and-forth game between the Noles and the Hokies, a clutch double by Sydney Sherill in the bottom of the sixth inning is what willed the Seminoles to victory.  After a quick 1-2-3 inning by Kathryn Sandercock in the first inning, Kaley Mudge singled on the first pitch of the game. After advancing to second on a Sherill foul out, Mudge then advanced to third on a passed ball. When Michaela Edenfield stepped up to bat, she hit a deep fly ball to center field that scored Mudge to give the Seminoles a 1-0 lead after just one inning. After stranding two VT runners on base in the second inning, Kalei Harding got the Seminoles started with a double.
