Washington University women’s golf’s junior Sydney Kuo won the WashU Spring Invite by two strokes with a score of 145 (one stroke over par) across two rounds on April 6 and 7. Led by Kuo, the No. 11 Washington University women’s golf team finished second, recording a score of 610 (34 strokes over par) on the par 72 course.
WashU athletics had a strong first week of April, highlighted by a road conference sweep by softball. Baseball won a key non-conference game on a walk-off homer, and the golf, track and field, and tennis teams all put up strong performances.
Entering the final day of the Golfweek October Classic on Oct. 15-17, junior Sydney Kuo stared down a four stroke gap between her and the leader. Kuo would quickly close that gap, shooting a tournament-low score of 67 (five under par) and placing first by three strokes.
The Washington University women's golf team finished second at the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships, putting a team score of 938 behind George Fox University who won the title with score of 933. The finish was the highest in program history for the Bears.

Teenaged Barbadian golfer Emily Odwin made a successful return to the greens last weekend after a year-long layoff, when she won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) of the Northern NJ Spring Junior Championship in New Jersey.
Competing at the Mountain View golf course in West Trenton, New Jersey, on Saturday, the 17-year-old Odwin opened with a brilliant four under par 68, which included six birdies, to take a four-stroke lead over Sydney Kuo, who played the 18 holes in even par, 72.
In the final 18 holes on Sunday, Odwin increased her lead to six strokes with a solid round, which included only one birdie but 15 pars, nine in succession through the back nine.
