The turkish cargo jet crashed shy of the airport, killing at least 30 people. Most of them were residents in their cottages in this Little Village that was struck by the boeing 747 as it tried to land in dense fog. Now the cottages which the boeing struck are right by the runway, in very close proximity. The runway and the village are essentially separated by a metal fence and thats why the damage was so bad. You can see the devastating pictures show the plane plowed through a few hundred yards through the village crushing houses and finally ending up on top of one of the houses. You can see the remnants of the broken aircraft smashed on top of one of the houses. The crash happened at about 7 30 local time, so most people would have been in their cottages and thats why the death toll is still high
