THANKS are extended to all those who provided the lovely cakes at Horton-in-Ribblesdale’s St Oswald’s Church Lambing Service. There were people of all ages at the outdoor service along with five pet lambs. Four people arrived after the service and enjoyed some takeaway cake. There were a number of ramblers too who enjoyed having a selfie with the orphan lambs. James from Selside and Jeanette from Newhouses were interviewed about the trials of farming. The congregation heard about the Soay and Blacknose breeds (Selside) and the hardier Swaledales and Texels (Newhouses). At the smallholding at Selside Soay have a lovely shelter - shared with the Swiss Valais Blacknose available. Everyone took part in a sheepish quiz and the lambs were fed many times over by the children who were present.
