(NDSU Athletics) – The North Dakota State University volleyball team dropped its Summit League opener on Sunday evening, losing 3-2 to Kansas City (25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13). Freshman outside hitter Ali Hinze led the Bison with 19 kills, and junior middle hitter Kirstin Tidd added a career-high 11 kills with a .455 attack percentage. Bison senior Bella Lien registered a career-best nine blocks in the match. Sophomore setter Kelley Johnson led NDSU with 15 digs, and freshman Taylor Quan recorded a season-high 12. The Bison outhit the Roos for the match, .196 to .174, but Kansas City rallied to win the first set, then won the fourth and fifth to take the victory.

NDSU Women Earn Weekend Split With Kansas City

(NDSU Athletics) – A late 7-0 run by the North Dakota State women’s basketball team sealed the win over Kansas City Saturday afternoon, as the Bison beat the Roos 68-65 at the Swinney Center. The victory moved the Bison to 12-4 overall and 7-3 in Summit League play. NDSU locked up the first winning season since 2009-10 and now have the most wins since the 2010-11 season. The Bison are now 6-0 on the second day of weekend series with the victory. The Roos dropped to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in league play. NDSU returns home on Friday, Feb. 5 against Oral Roberts. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. in the first game of a doubleheader with the NDSU men at the Scheels Center.

Bison Grind Out 71-67 Win at Kansas City

(NDSU Athletics) – The North Dakota State men’s basketball team posted a 71-67 road victory over Kansas City on Friday evening, improving to 8-1 in Summit League play. Sam Griesel led the Bison with 15 points, and Tyree Eady added 14. The Bison made 26-of-33 at the free throw line (79 percent) in the game and shot 52.5 percent from the field. NDSU freshman Dezmond McKinney scored a season-high 10 points, playing near his hometown of Raytown, Mo. Jarius Cook also scored 10 for the Bison, and Rocky Kreuser and Jaxon Knotek both finished with nine. With 10 rebounds in the game, Kreuser became the 31st player in NDSU history to surpass 500 career rebounds. He needs eight points to reach 1,000 for his career.
