A NOTORIOUS shoplifter has been banned from Swindon town centre stores for two years. Gareth Fanning, 35, was handed the criminal behaviour order at a court hearing on Wednesday, December 2. It also prevents him from entering any shops in Greenbridge Retail Park or any Co-op store in the borough. Fanning has 79 precious convictions for 205 offences - which mostly relate to shoplifting - and the order was sought by Swindon South Community Policing Team. Last year, Fanning, of Frobisher Drive, Walcot, was convicted of 28 offences. All but two of those convictions were for shoplifting. Of those, over 60 per cent of the crimes were committed within the main town centre shopping area. A further 27 per cent happened at Greenbridge Retail Park.
