Tourism spending in Sweetwater County fell by $87 million in 2020 according to a recent report given by Jenissa Meredith to the Green River City Council.
Meredith, the executive director of the Sweetwater County Travel and Tourism, said the decline from 2019 spending is directly attributed to the coronavirus pandemic.
Meredith said prior to the pandemic, money collected from the county’s lodging tax were tracking upwards and though the pandemic hit the industry hard in March 2020, the lodging tax dollars collected were still up from fiscal year 2018-2019. During fiscal year 2019-2020, whi.
SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism Board (SWCTTB) is proud to announce that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has designated the Flaming Gorge – Green Basin Scenic Byway as an All-American Road. The SWCTT board, along with several partners around the byway, submitted an application to the FHWA in 2020 and the application was successful.
“This has been a dream, 20-plus years in the making,” said Jenissa Meredith, Executive Director of Sweetwater County Travel and Tourism. “I was fortunate to be involved in preparing this application over a decade ago when Dave Hanks, former CEO of the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, included me in the project,” added Meredith. “It is such an honor to see this designation finally become a reality.”

SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism Board recently received two awards for their new website at TourWyoming.com. Travel Weekly and the Web Marketing Association both recognized the site for outstanding quality.
The website, that was revised and re-launched in March 2020, is designed to be a resource to inspire potential visitors and help them plan their trip. The site features sample itineraries, a local event calendar, a photo and video gallery, a restaurant and lodging listing, detailed descriptions of area attractions, and more. The website is also a great resource for residents to stay up to date on local events and to find new places to explore nearby.
