KARKALA: When National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) and National Talent Search Examinations (NTSE) are held on Monday, Karkala block education authorities will keep their fingers crossed, for the simple reason that the taluk has the highest enrolment for these national level competitive examinations for school students in Udupi district.
The student registration for NMMS for class 8 is 709, and for NTSE for class 10, it is 609.
The brainchild of BEO G S Shashidhar and his team, the whole exercise of encouraging students to enrol for these highly competitive examinations, is to give them an early feel of appearing for other tougher examinations. “It is immaterial if these students succeed in these examinations or not. What is more important, is for the students to get into the groove of what it takes to prepare for national level examinations from an early age,” Shashidhar told TOI.
