New offices, brewery coming to Tech City in Alachua by early 2022

San Felasco Tech City, the Alachua multiuse development that s home to 60,000 square feet of office space and a preschool, is gearing up for its next phase of construction. In keeping with its owners vision of being a “live, work, play,” development, the next phase will include additional office space and a brewery.  New construction will begin this summer on a pair of 30,000-square-foot buildings that will double the amount of office space. Those buildings will be directly north of the current ones and they’ll be connected by a pedestrian walkway. The new buildings’ roofs will also be covered in solar panels, providing Tech City’s energy along with panels on the existing roofs and solar trees on the property.

Although Pepe, who is based south of Boston, usually has everything shipped to the festival site, this year the party of five is renting an RV and turning it into a road trip like the Griswolds, he said. Founded in 2012 to highlight gourmet food trucks and craft breweries for a “day of eating, drinking and fun, FTFA expanded the festival to two days in 2019. Pepe also hosts the Diehards Radio Show, a national sports radio talk show recorded in his home studio and broadcast on 95 U.S. stations  including WTKP in Panama City. Radio s been my life for 25 years, said Pepe, who started working with FTFA three years ago as a marketing director and radio partner before becoming owner in November 2020.

New restaurants showcase variety of dining options across Gainesville

Pink Flamingo Diner  With its shining exterior and brightly upholstered booths, the Pink Flamingo Diner, 19726 U.S. 441 in High Springs, looks straight out of 1950. But the updated menu options at Alachua County’s newest retro diner nods to the past while keeping up with popular contemporary dietary choices like vegetarianism.  The Pink Flamingo Diner, now open for lunch and dinner, is in what used to be Floyd’s Diner, said Tara McDermott, vice president of food and beverage for Hilife Projects, which was involved with opening the restaurant. The Pink Flamingo is under new ownership and the space has been updated.
