EU representative: Reconstruction of Gaza requires an end to Israel’s blockade
GAZA, Tuesday, June 01, 2021 (WAFA) - Representative of the European Union in Palestine, Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff, said today that the reconstruction of Gaza requires the lifting of the 15-year-old Israeli siege and the free access of people and goods in and out of Gaza.
This came during a press conference held in front of the ruins of al-Jala tower - housing the AP and al-Jazeera offices - destroyed during the 11-day of the Israeli onslaught on the Strip, during which he affirmed that the Israeli siege on the Strip must be lifted and the people and goods must be allowed to move freely in and out of the Strip.

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 (WAFA) - Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh today called on the European Union to exert real pressure on Israel to stop its aggression in Gaza and East Jerusalem.
Shtayyeh received in his office in Ramallah the EU Representative Sven Kuhn von Burgsdorff to discuss the efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, stop the violations of the occupation forces in Jerusalem and the West Bank, and to hear about the EU efforts and its contacts with all parties to reach a cessation of aggression.

LUXEMBOURG (CN) The EU’s second-highest court advanced a petition Wednesday that would block the import of goods from Israeli settlements in occupied territories of Palestine.
Because such settlements are widely seen as illegal under international law, a group invoked the powers of of the the European Citizens’ Initiative to petition for a boycott of any goods produced in the settlements.

The Israeli government has not officially said whether it would permit polling stations to be established there, but Palestinian political sources say Mahmoud Abbas is interested in the postponement due to concern that his Fatah party would not secure the electoral victory that it is seeking.
According to Hamas, “elections must be held in Jerusalem” as a show of force “against the occupation,” amid heightened tensions in the city over the past weeks, with Palestinian residents and Israeli forces clashing in the Old City.
“We don’t take away responsibility from the occupation for delaying the elections,” Hamas added. Israel “bears responsibility for our people’s deprivation of rights,” it said, also taking a jab at “other international actors” who Hamas claims enable Israel’s policies against the Palestinians.
