Stratford pool reopens after chlorine leak shut pool on Sunday

Simon O Connor/Stuff Stratford swimming pool was open for business from 2pm on Monday after a chlorine alarm was triggered and the facility was shut for a day. The swimming pool in Stratford reopened on Monday afternoon – 24 hours after a gas leak saw the buildng evacuated. The TSB Pool Complex was closed shortly before 2pm on Sunday after a staff member found a 70kg chlorine gas bottle leaking. Up to 20 people were at the pool at the time and were safely evacuated when the alarm went off. The pool remained closed on Monday morning to give specialists time to investigate and ensure a recurrence was avoided, Stratford District Council chief executive Sven Hanne said in an emailed statement.
