Svay Rieng workers storm out of factory over Covid-19 fears

The Svay Rieng Provincial Administration said that areas of the bicycle assembly factory A & J (Cambodia) Co Ltd in the Tai Seng 1 Special Economic Zone in Bavet town have been shut down and turned into a quarantine centre after more than 1,000 workers fled the premises fearing Covid-19 infection on May 26.
The provincial administration said 54 out of 145 people were tested positive for Covid-19 in the front building of the factory.
The Svay Rieng Provincial Administration has appealed to workers and drivers of trucks that transport those employed at the bicycle producing factory A&J Cambodia in Bavet town to place themselves in quarantine after they stormed out of the factory for fear of contracting Covid-19.
The Svay Rieng Provincial Administration has issued a statement warning people to be cautious when buying land in the province because there were some individuals and companies selling plots of land without a proper licence.
