The city of Highland Park has paid the Great Lakes Water Authority $1 million Friday as a part of interim deal to settle tens of millions of dollars in unpaid water bills.
The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) received a $1 million payment stipulated in the interim agreement reached this week regarding the collection cases against Highland Park.
The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) and the City of Highland Park have reached an interim agreement, including payment of Highland Park's $24 million judgment owed to GLWA for unpaid water and wastewater services in the 2014 case.
As a result of the agreement, which was worked out Monday, Highland Park will be paying $1 million to GLWA by June 9 which will result in a stay - or pause of court activities.
The City of Highland Park and the Great Lakes Water Authority have come to an agreement that would suspend court activities in their ongoing dispute over a $24 million judgment against the city.
