THOUSANDS of people in Winsford have welcomed their first Covid jab as the vaccination programme is being rolled out with great speed in a meticulously organised operation. Residents say they immediately felt protected and are reassuring people worried about the injection to have it with confidence. GPs and nurses from the town s five surgeries have teamed up to administer the vaccine at special weekend sessions in Dene Drive Primary Care Centre. Residents have praised medical staff and volunteers for making them feel safe, reassured and relaxed.

A HAIRDRESSER volunteered to help as 1,000 elderly residents received their second Pfizer Covid jab. Suzanne McKevitt, who is on furlough from The Hair Shop in Northwich, acted as a marshal as GPs administered the vaccination at Dene Drive Primary Care Centre in Winsford. The 49-year-old joined a team of 14 volunteers to look after residents aged over 80 as they attended the clinic. I ended up in the marquee tent where everyone had to wait for 15 minutes after they had the vaccine, said Suzanne, who lives in Winsford. I m a people s person so I absolutely loved it. It was brilliant. There was a great sense of camaraderie.
