Union County Chamber updates its image

UNION COUNTY — The Union County Chamber of Commerce pulled the curtain back on its revamped image with a press release earlier this week, featuring a new logo and an updated website. “We wanted to develop a style truly capturing the essence of La Grande and Union County — something timeless and modern, but something meaningful and characterizing a rich historic past,” Suzannah Moore-Hemann, the chamber’s executive director, said in a press release The new logo, which resembles a postmark, represents Union County’s “worthiness” as a destination while representing the chamber’s role in supporting local businesses, the release stated.

Holiday spirit endures with decoration-viewing caravan

LA GRANDE — Union County residents proved over the weekend the holiday spirit is enduring and adaptable when more than 100 vehicles full of people turned out for a holiday decoration-viewing caravan, bringing charity and cheer to the community. The caravan, which the Union County Chamber of Commerce and La Grande Main Street Downtown organized in a joint effort, brought people across the community together to enjoy one of the heartwarming traditions of the holiday season: seeing homes decked out in dazzling light displays. “It was fantastic,” said Suzannah Moore-Hemann, executive director of the chamber. “We printed off 100 hard copies of the maps, and we ran out well before everyone was able to get them. I would estimate we had between 125 to 150 cars.”

Shop hop hits the target

LA GRANDE — The Union County Chamber of Commerce wrapped up its inaugural shop hop the first week of December, and the chamber’s executive cirector, Suzannah Moore-Hemann, said the event was a boon for both businesses and participants. The chamber teamed up with businesses to organize the event to encourage local shopping Thursday, Dec. 3, through Saturday, Dec. 5. Participants used a Monopoly-like game card to collect stamps or signatures at the real-world locations of more than 30 Union County businesses and organizations, from Blue Mountain Outfitters and Fitzgerald Flowers, both in downtown La Grande, to Cat’s Paw Farm in Union. Players who visited every location then turned in their game cards to the chamber, which planned to pick three winners to each receive a gift basket full of goods and gift cards that local businesses donated.
