It further showcases Kenya’s business climate and policy framework and highlights relevant organizations contributing to the country’s shift to a circular economy as an alternative economic framework.
KEPSA donates PPEs to County Government of Mombasa

The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) through the Kenya Healthcare Federation has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the County Government of Mombasa. The PPEs donations worth Ksh. 5 million have been donated to 3 counties; Mombasa, Kajiado and Machakos.
The PPEs are a donation by businessman Dr. Manu Chandaria through the COVID-19 fund to KEPSA. The donation was made as a response to the rising number of COVID-19 infections in the country.
KEPSA has launched a number of initiatives in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to highlight the importance of the partnership between the private and public sectors in Kenya. A 24-hour call center and a COVID-19 information portal were launched to aid business owners to get responses on business and health matters for their workers, to strengthen their supply chains, business initiatives, and economic mitigation. A new plastics waste deal can help Kenya contain pollution
Summary
Kenya’s ban on production, sale and use of plastic carrier bags in 2017 is considered one of the sternest in the world and whose success rate is now recorded at approximately 80 percent.
The country has since made tremendous strides in the fight against plastic pollution, with a ban on specific single-use plastics in all protected areas taking effect from June 2020.
There are also ongoing and ambitious plastics initiatives such as the Kenya Plastic Action Plan and the development of the Kenya Extended Producer Responsibility Organization (KEPRO).
