(The Center Square) — State lawmakers must act soon before a trio of authorizations expire for traffic cameras that capture drivers violating traffic laws.
City officials recently announced official plans to reconfigure Washington Avenue between 4th Street and Grays Ferry Avenue from its current five-lane layout to a mixed-lane layout as part of its repaving project scheduled for later this year.
It’s too soon to say how Washington Avenue will ultimately look, and what impact it will have on the neighborhoods surrounding it. OTIS will hold a public open house to present the finalized plans before construction.
City officials sparked outrage when they reversed course on a planned “road diet” for one of the city’s most dangerous thoroughfares. But the transportation officials say the decision was meant to promote equity.
