Izzy, now a senior, has been the starting lacrosse goalie since she arrived on the Macon, Ga. campus of Mercer University. Her short story is “Milton to Macon” protecting the house! Izzy was named to the All-Southern Conference Preseason Team for 2020 before the season was canceled after six games. She is a member of the 2019 all-tournament team and 2018 academic honor roll. The 2021 Bears are currently 4-4 on the season with wins over Winthrop (17-14), Woffard (20-5), Delaware State (21-3) and Kennesaw State (20-19). Izzy has started all eight games. She is now four wins away from becoming Mercer’s all-time winningest goalie. Mercer has four regular-season games remaining and then the conference tournament. Izzy was part of four state championship teams while at Cape and was also a star goalie when playing for Atlantic Lacrosse.

FELTON, Del.- Behind 16 strikeouts from freshman ace Madge Layfield, the Sussex Central Golden Knights shut out Lake forest for the 4-0 win to move to 5-1 on the year. The loss drops Lake to 2-0.
After a scoreless first inning, the Golden Knights got the bats going in the second. Two doubles from Aryanna Briddell and Kaylee Verosko brought home two runs to give Central the 2-0 lead to end the second. Same score headed to the fourth until Briddell send her second hit over the fence for a homer, she had a game high three hits on the day. In the fifth, Katelyn Evick joined the club sending a homer over the left field fence to make it a 4-0 game headed into the sixth inning.

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Behind 11 points from Chase Hesson (go ahead shot for win) and Jayson Handy, the number 37 seed Delmarva Christian Royals defeated the number 28 Sussex Central Golden Knights in the final seconds 39-38. The Golden Knights finished their season with a 7-7 record.
For the first time since 2013, the Sussex Central Golden Knights were making an appearance in the DIAA boys basketball tournament. That season, the Knights finished 12-8 with a 9 point loss to Newark. Central (7-7) came into tonights game on a rough three game losing streak with the Royals (2-9) not any hotter, 7 losses in a row. But, you can throw the records out the window when it comes to the DIAA tournament, anything can happen!
