Federal Judge Rules DACA is illegal

In a slap in the face to hundreds of thousands of immigrants, a federal judge in Houston ruled July 16 that President Barack Obama had no authority to establish the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This ruling bars the government from approving any new applications.
Judge Andrew Hanen, appointed by George W. Bush in 2002, ruled in favor of Texas and eight other conservative states that sued to halt DACA, which currently provides limited protections to about 650,000 Dreamers (DACA participants). Fortunately, those Dreamers will not be affected but will have to continue to annually renew their status.

Illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are demanding amnesty with a path to obtaining American citizenship after a federal judge ruled the program unconstitutional.
Last week, Judge Andrew Hanen ruled that the Obama administration had illegally implemented the DACA program to shield hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens from deportation. The program, Hanen ordered, must be effectively shut down to new, illegal alien applicants.
In response, DACA illegal aliens with the open borders group United We Dream linked to billionaire George Soros protested outside of the United States District Courthouse in Houston, Texas, on Monday to demand amnesty.
“I can lose my job. I can lose my healthcare benefits. It’s really ridiculous, and it feels very upsetting,” Lujano said.
Her status is protected for now. The judge’s decision only orders the government to stop approving new applications.
“This has temporarily, it has no effect on people that currently have DACA and, or are renewing DACA, said Roberto Quijano, a civil rights attorney.
However, the ruling has huge impacts on people like 19-year-old Cesar Hernandez.
“It makes me mad, because how are you going to tell me, and how are you going to tell people that they don’t deserve the same chances as you because they weren’t born here? Hernandez said.
